Ice trials are a "one car at a time" competitive event. You run again the clock on a marked course laid out on a frozen lake. (Don't worry, we check the ice carefully to make sure it can support the weight of the cars.) You compete for trophies against other drivers in your class.
This is a great way to learn how to control your car in low-traction conditions. Plus it is a lot of fun! It is suggested that you have winter tires on your car. So-called all-season tires just don't cut it for driving on ice (nor on icy or snowy roads, for that matter.) Dedicated winter/snow tires have special rubber compounds and special tread patterns specially designed for dealing with ice and snow. They are now made by many tire manufactures including Nokian, Hankook, and Bridgestone. These tires are so good that many western states now waive chain requirements for vehicles equipped with winter tires.
More experienced ice trial competitors may want to move up to studded racing tires. Having that kind of bite on the ice gives you a driving experience like no other!
The majority of our events our run on Lake Sinissippi in Hustisford (directions). After the event, we go over to the Lake Street Inn for food, drink, and awards.
Chanticleer Inn in Eagle River is our "Northern event headquarters" for Ice Trials at Dollar Lake. They have a variety of accommodations (from motel rooms to suites to villas) with winter rates in effect. Their award-winning restaurant and bar will be open also.

Note: To keep the event running smoothly and fun for everybody, we are limiting each event to the first 60 pre-registered entries – Non-pre-registered entries up to 60 will be accepted on first come first serve basis. Absolutely no entries will be accepted over the 60 entry cap. Pre-register now to hold your spot!
